More Single Women Buying Real Estate

Traditionally, many people thought to buy a home came after other major life milestones—particularly marriage. And while this was a commonly held belief for most people, it was especially true for women.

But (thankfully!) things change. Today it’s not uncommon for women to wait until later in life to get married (or to forgo marriage altogether), but they’re not letting that stop them from purchasing real estate. According to a recent article in Realtor Magazine, the share of single female home buyers jumped from 15 to 18 percent over the last three years—and today, when it comes to home purchases, single women are outpacing men.

The Takeaway

If you’re a single woman and you’ve been thinking about buying a home, now is a great time to join your peers and make a move!
